Little Peter is finally baptized! I feel like it took forever, and I don’t understand why my parish doesn’t make it easier to get children baptized promptly, but the day finally came.

I had been worries that it would end up just being us and baby’s godparents at he ceremony. We couldn’t do it during Mass and I was feeling sorry that there wouldn’t be more people around to celebrate with Peter and welcome him into the church.

Well, lo and behold, we ended up with quite a crowd of family and friends joining us at our little church and then at our reception afterwards.  Almost everyone came from at least two hours away– and some drove as much as eight hours. I was so touched.

The ceremony itself was beautiful and simple and made me cry, of course. Peter only whimpered a little and was generally in a great mood. He was passed from one set of arms to another and completely lapped up the attention.

I haven’t given him a bath since then because he top if his head smells so good from the chrism oil. Even his daycare teacher said she was sniffing it all day 🙂
