Well, I Think It’s Pretty Cute!

August 13, 2010

Can you see his little tooth?

It’s dalmation spots, by the way. Not cow spots.

LPK is handling the helmet well. He gets a little annoyed for the first few minutes it’s on and then he forgets it’s there. Yay! He will have to wear it 23 hours a day up to 7 months. I think we will be pretty tired of dalmation spots by the time this is over.

We have really cranked up the time spent doing stretching exercises for his torticollis. Little did we know, and just found out, but by the time he is a year old, his neck muscle length will be fairly fixed. I can’t believe the pediatricians never noticed this. We diagnosed him ourselves when we noticed his head tilt and had to bring it to the doctor’s attention where they basically told us, “Yes, he has toritcollis and a weird head. Good-bye, Good luck, see you in two months.” It was the neurologist that only saw LPK briefly who insisted we get him in a helmet and physical therapy before it is too late.

Rolling around on the floor

He looks like a little football player! Haha, I think we are going to get a lot of questions.  The othotist actually said he has some cards he can give us to hand out to people who are being super inquisitive.

And PS: Thank the Lord for amazing health insurance.  This helmet would be sooo expensive out of pocket.

hey – i have a question about the helmet – how does it work? isnt the torticollis more of a neck issue? does the helmet prevent him from tilting his head to one side?

LPK looks very cute and very happy!

When I have seen babies wearing helmets like his, I thought they were fashion items . . . 🙂
