Slides and Parties

February 20, 2011

Spike got invited to his first birthday party this weekend!!  It was held at a kid gym and was actually a ridiculous amount of fun.  It was all indoors on a padded floor and there was a huge ball-pit, several slides, trampolines, and, Spike’s favorite: lots of different stair cases to climb.

We had taken him to the park on that one blissfully warm day this week.  He had fallen in love with the slides and just wanted to ride them over and over.  Unfoprtunately, the park was swamped and he kept being almost trampled by packs of five year old boys.  We didn’t stay that long.

He was obsessed with the slide and the fact that if he crawled up a little, he was slip back down

Most of the kids at the party were from his daycare class (most under 18 months), so the babies pretty much took over the equipment they wanted.  The ball-pit was especially hilarious– every single dad who put their baby in there tried to bury them in balls, and every single mom freaked out about it and had to rescue their kid (me too, the first time, then I realized my munchkin actually liked it).

And oh yes, Spike got his first juice box at the party.  I don’t really give him juice, and never a juice box– but, wow, he loved it! So he officially knows how to use a straw!!  There was a lot of backwashing to begin with, though…

so much good food that he usually isn't allowed to have...

Thanks for your encouraging comments on my last post.  We found a really cute apartment to look at that is in walking distance of campus.  No laundry in the unit, but there is a dishwasher!  And it has hardwood floors, which I’m terribly partial to.  Plus, it is much cheaper than where we currently live.  If that works out and my financial aid works out, then I might just feel comfortable taking this opportunity.  Honestly, I just keep leaving everything up to God, and things keep working out.  Maybe it’s a sign or something, haha.

So cute! And YAY for midwifery!!! there are a handful of midwives-to-be in my program at UIC – i love it – and the idea of YOU as one! its so perfect , i can see you being an AMAZING midwife – if you do decide to go – let me know!!! i know how hard it can be to have to deal with the monetary aspect of things and it can stink – and i know you guys have way more expenses than Ben & I, and taking more loans out totally suck – i have no money for school so its ALL loans- but it’s do-able. But don’t despair if you decide to not go to school this year and maybe reapply to UPenn (OR UIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!) or see if there are cheaper options – you can do it!!!!!!

i think you should move to chicago so i can play with LPK (and you :P) and we can go to school in the same building.. haha… just wishful thinking!

    good luck deciding <33

oh PS. Julia R is at UPenn right now so she might be a great source to help in terms of looking for apts & areas & places that are cheaper – she’s working full-time while taking night classes for her pre-dental post bacc, so she gets the whole money thing 🙂

He looks like he’s loving that cake! I’m glad that things are falling in place for you. We’ll keep up the prayers.
